textile chair...

This is my first experience turning a volume into a 3d textile piece...I loved this experience!!! and would love to continue exploring this new field...I can see endless possibilities... The start of this piece was the knitted patchwork piece covering the seat of the chair. It was intended as wall art but then I started playing with using it on objects...it ended on this chair for a long time...and recently I took it a step further and covered the chair with yarn, to turn it into an all textile piece!

sketch...

This sketch, like so many more I have is an example of ideas that spur on the paper that I would love to use as foundation for bigger, more intricate, purely textile pieces...

textile drawing

This mixed media piece is another example of how I incorporate embroidery and thread to drawings and paintings... The addition of the thread takes a simple sketch to a new dimension...

Mixed Media Collage

I created this piece last winter...I am always thinking of ways to incorporate textiles into everything...I love the technique of collage, as I am in love with visuals...I created this collage and then embroidered some areas as accent...I love the dimension that the thread generates on the paper...so delicate, warm and tactile all at the same time...
